In a world full of Pop-Country, finally a contemporary, yet classic Country album! Chris Ellis’ vocals are incredibly well suited to Hopdown’s diverse song list and Mark Perry’s soulful guitar makes them the new Dynamic Duo of country music. This debut album from the So. Cal. group assembles great rock songs like “Hundred Proof Ways” and “Short Fuse” mixed with beautiful ballads like “Josephine (The Harvest Queen)” and “I Wish You Were Here” in a refreshing combination that appeals to fans of all genres. Jonas Sevitski provides solid beats and Rachel Trierwiler is a good back-up vocalist, but the real magic happens when accompanied by Marissa Garcia, who not only provides a beautiful voice on “Long and Lonely Highway,” but also a haunting flute track on “The Barkeep.” This collection of 11 songs, book-ended by the soon-to-be-classics “Back in Paradise” and (personal favorite) “One More Beer,” should be part of every music fan’s collection.

I really enjoyed this album. I wouldn't put country as my favorite style of music, but this album is great. Songs like "Long and Lonley Highway" and "Hundred Proof Ways" are good, up tempo tunes that are perfect for driving with the top down. Then there are slower songs like "The Barkeep" with superb lyrics and clear meaning. "One More Beer" is a can't miss if your having a few with some friends, by the way. Overall great music and well written lyrics makes Back In Paradise an album worth having in your collection.
