Jazz was originally created with a feature of all instrumentation but most of what hidden beach has produced has been sequenced drum tracks with no real "feel". This was an awesome start to what could be a wonderfully well rounded project in the future containing awesome arrangements, musicality, and total instrumentation! Give the drummer some was an awesome project!!! BTW My fav is currently "blame it on the.."

The first 4 volumes had me ready to take a long run. To much concentration on the drummer.

I've been a fan of the Unwrapped series since Volume 1 and i actually own Volumes 1-6. i was attracted to the series because they took some good hip-hop/r&b songs and just totally revamped them. i LOVE jazz and i actually found that i enjoyed some of these hits better now that they had been redone. now, the first four volumes are simply phenomenal cause the arrangements and musicianship are crazy. i actually felt like i was listening to music. i even liked how they stayed true to the core of the original tracks. Karen Briggs is a beast, by the way. However, with the release of Volume 5......things changed. i STILL haven't listened through the whole thing yet, particularly because it's not really my still of music. i liked the way things were done in the first four volumes instead. things must change, though. now, we have Volume 6 and although it's not like the Vol. 1-4 i think it's an upgrade from Vol. 5. FACT: Tony is a monster. personally, i dont listen to the radio anymore cause i feel like it's all crap and many of these songs i've never heard or heard of and probably wouldn't listen to otherwise. BUT...i like what i'm hearing. SO, if you REALLY wanna hear the Unwrapped series at its best, cop Volumes 1-4. the level of musicianship and arrangement is phenomenal and the selection of hits that they chose was sublime. i'd still say give Vol. 5 a chance. it may be your style and you might love it. me....not so much. Volume 6, however, is worth a listen. at the end of the day, i still LOVE the Unwrapped series. i hope this review helps!!!

  • Boring and Shallow

This volume doesn't cut it! It's shallow in comparison to it's predecessors. The earlier volumes had more diversity of sound and featured more musicians and instrumental sounds. The original concept is being drastically altered and the diversion does nothing to promote the concept of marrying jazz and hip hop.
  • Great CD, Great Value

I absolutely love this album. In my opinion, Unwrapped Vol. 6n is the best Unwrapped album so far. I had my doubts for the album when I found out they were coming out with yet another Unwrapped mix but I am glad they did. They really captured todays hottest songs. I think its a must have for the holiday season, especially for older audiences that want a classier hip hop rhymtic CD. 5 stars all the way!
