Next time you read one of those definitive histories of punk extolling the importance of Patti Smith, Television and Talking Heads, toss the book aside and put on this collection for the REAL story of the downtown NY/CBGB's-Max's sound. Lean and powerful 70's punk rock delivered with bravado...more representative of what was going down at the time than the revered efforts of their more artistic/literary peers. Although the Heartbreakers sound was much better exemplified by the live (criminally out of print!) D.T.K. and Max's Kansas City records, this collection is the deal--go out and cop this 3 disc budget price set.

This is probably the greatest deal on any Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers recordings. Three disks worth of stuff for $11.99. Yeah, its repetitive, but remember...it's for Johnny thunders fans. it wasn't made to make you a fan. it was made to give you more of johnny thunders. Its got some great versions of already great songs. Apperently, its got walter lure doing street fighting man with the ramones. i dunno if thats itunes messing up, or if walter lure did a song with the ramones. either way, this is a great collection for a great price.
