Honestly, I wasn't expecting all that much. The songs from Instant Star weren't all that strong, and I thought this was going to be more of the same. I'm thrilled that isn't the case. Every track is interesting in its own way, and you can see that she obviously dug deep through music history for influences. You can't pin it to a decade.
I'm not sure if I fall into the "only old people will like this" category, but I honestly do like it. Especially "Voodoo"; I've listened to that far to many times in one day.

I like the music from instant star but I love this album it's different than what I usually listen to so that is why I think I love it and alexz has an amazing voice!!!

Although I wish all of that label crap hadn't happened because I would have loved to see "Running With The Devil" on this album, this album is still a work of art and definitely a triumph for Alexz.

I know they're remixing a few songs from this CD to make it more radio play friendly, and I honestly don't understand why. I watched Instant star from beginning to end and fell in love with Johnson's Voice, so of course I had to buy her solo CD, which I loved. I don't get why some of the songs didn't catch. Her CD is great! If you like Instant Star, and/or Taylor Swift I think you'll like Alexz Johnson

I loved Alexz when she was on So Weird and IS. Heck, I was stoked to see her on Smallville as Saturn girl. I loved her voice as much as her acting, and I am so happy to finally see an album where she can grow as her own artist and do her own thing. My only qualm is that there was no shout out about this being out. I live in Oklahoma, we don't get any good music down here. You have to help us out a little and promote stuff like this when it comes out.

I'm going to be honest, I've never seen any TV show this artist is associated with. I suspect that might make me older than her average fan. Still, I found this album... somehow. It is great. I like Ingrid Michaelson, Sara Barielles, and her music is a sort of poppier version of their stuff. I highly recommend people check it out.
