Typically, iTunes has posted their review of the wrong album above. The review presently above on Sept 28, 2010 is for the Shanachie YO MILES! release. This album is a different album composed of three original tracks by Wadada: THUNDER & LIGHTNING, STILL SUNRISE, and MILES DEWEY DAVIS III - GREAT ANCESTOR; plus 3 group improvisations: MACERO, TSAPIKY FRELIMO (featuring a super hot, tribute-to-Pete-Cosey guitar solo by Chris Muir - of which Carlos Santana, who was at that gig, said to Chris: "You are like the Larry Young of guitar".) and Cozy Pete. The first three tracks are in the studio and were on the Cuneiform YO MILES! albums: SKY GARDEN and UPRIVER, the last three tracks are live and previously unreleased. The players are: Wadada Leo Smith on trumpet; Henry Kaiser, Mike Keneally and Chris Muir on electric guitars; Michael Manring on bass; Steve Smith on drums; Karl Perazzo on percussion; Greg Osby (alto) and John Tchicai (tenor and soprano) on saxophones; The Rova Sax quartet guesting on one live track (Tsapiky Frelimo); and Tom Coster and Mike Keneally on keyboards. I miss playing in this band very much, it was the most fun band I ever played in. It's too bad the the current musical economic depression environment does not support this kind of music anymore....
