I asked Apple Support about it, and they say the problem is with the publisher. The missing first track, and the tracks that have been replaced with edited versions from recent compilations, apparently Apple doesn’t have the ability to fix this. And of course I don’t know how to get in touch with Rhino/Warner/whoever. Probably nobody does, because the music business is a king rat of conflicting short-term interests. This is a seminal album being mismanaged on the streaming platforms. I don’t know what to do about it except go buy the CD. Which I should do anyway.

"Duke" has always been regarded as a crictical step forward album for Genesis. The record as a whole is almost perfectly balanced. There are strong guitar riffs from Mike Rutherford, who, at the time of the recordings, is becoming more confident in his abilities. Tony Banks is a wizard on the keyboards, flying along at a rapid pace. And Phil Collins is starting to become the drummer fans would love. I love the album as a whole, but my favorite Genesis song of all time, came from "Duke": "Turn It On Again." I personally always thought this song served as Genesis' slogan, the credo that the band lived by. And when Genesis began ending a show with the song, it became sort of a promise to the fans that they would be back to "turn it on again"!
  • Great remaster but with one major gripe

The remastering of this album sounds phenomenal, but I have one huge gripe about what was done here. The transition from “Behind the Lines” to “Duchess” tragically cuts the opening song short. This removes the amazing transition of the opening song into Duchess, which is probably one of my favorite fades ever.

Duke is certainly a personal favorite of the four 1980’s Genesis albums. A solid album and every track is great. Reissue cleaned the music up and it sounds better. Only thing I personally miss from old mx is the more scratchy vocals from Phil. He sang so well on this one. Original mix had a neat scratchy sound or rasp to some of the songs. This is in the top five Genesis ever did.
