Reviews

  • One of many great albums from RCSQ

If you enjoy the sound of saxaphones you cannot go wrong with these guys. Their insturmental balance is wonderful, with a nice emphesis on the baritone ( Being a former baritone sax player in a sax quartet: I am bias). The Piggly Wiggle is a very fun song. I highly recommend you search for their other albums (not on iTunes unfortunately). Their album Smiles and Chuckles is great. A few songs are played with the rarely heard Bass Sax. You don't find recordings of this kind of music at this quality often enough.

These are 4 great musicians, especially the soprano player. This is a very original performance of classical ragtime music. A great idea. The only problem I have is the Baritone's keys are very loud. In a solo portion, the keys are very loud, and sound like metal-on-metal. Anyone that has ever played bari sax knows it is probably the hardest to play and the the build quality is usually low. Other than that, this is a great album and it is worth buying.
