  • More than drone

There are melodies and harmonies throughout. They simply are subdued. This is thought out music - and if not - the two members lucked out because you will get to know these songs well. Background music or music to focus on. These string decays work either way. Second only to Harold Budd's The Pearl.
  • Indeed: Very tiring

Every song sounds the same :( I read the glowing reviews, looking for something different. This wasn't it. To be fair, I listened to it 3 times over to see if it would click. It did not.

Relax and drift off to sleep with these soothing tones. This album got me into ambient music. I highly recommend to anyone wanting to explore ambient.

I love, love SOTL! Any musician can appreciate how much skill must go in to writing and performing this music, which ends up feeling like the aural version of a massage and sounds like lying in the middle of a still but sound-rich and alive place. Alot like Abbas Kiarostami's short film "5 Dedicated to Ozu," their music is minimalist but engages the brain the whole time, if only unconsciously. I say TV kills brain cells and SOTL repairs them :)
  • The pinnacle of Orgambient

At the crossroads of ambient drone and minimal classical, yet transcending either genre. Elegant, emotional, visceral, ethereal.

The turning point for ambient music. The must have work. Do not hesitate for a second.
  • Excellent Adult Lullabies

This album is one of SOTL's best (up there with "Refinement of the Decline") It's just a variety of streched out string-based melodies. Beautiful stuff. No matter how incredibly stressful your day was, I guarantee you will fall asleep with a beautiful dream with a single listen of "Mulholland". Definitely worth buying if you like relaxing music. If you like this you should check out Harold Budd and Andrew Cauthen, they produce some sweet stuff in a similar vein.

The best thing to say about Tired Sounds is that it puts you in the safest place you can think of. While nodding off to sleep, pondering about life or future events that will take place, or just anything, Tired Sounds will always bring you back to that place you know and love, despite any emotion you may be in. I feel like with each and every chord, there is a new emotion to be felt. This is such a brilliant record, and a band like this only comes once in a life time. For whatever you do, give this record a chance for the sake of listening to something unique and new. I'm glad that this record is here to stay for the rest of my days.
