I''ve never really listened to The Onslaught, but I find this record to be very well written and recorded. It's not like they've done so much to their sound that you can't tell they're playing thrash anymore, there's still enough thrash on this album. The band, from what I gather, just felt like they needed to do something a bit different in order to stay unique. And they do sound unique. It's still quite heavy, and quite thrashy, it is a thrash album, but expect a bit of melody and catchiness with it all. In all I must say that this is very good, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I highly recommend it. I ts worthy to be in your collection

Not much to add...this is good stuff....really really good. Like people say different than Onslaught, but still pretty heavy with good metal to be found.

i'm two songs deep and this record rules. if you like this genre of music and don't like this album, you probably don't have ears. that simple. more than worth the 10 bucks!

I really like the groove aspect they added into their sound. After playing the same songs from "The Onslaught" on a setlist show after show after show for almost 4 years it shouldent surprise anybody they wanted to do something different. This band never fails to deliver

I'm really glad that Lazarus took a chance with going a different way. Because, BRF is still pretty heavy! Even though they toned down the speed a little, but, I know I can put both albums on shuffle and enjoy!
  • Old School Crunchy!

I will go along with some of the other reviewers. If you are expecting the same sound on thie last album, its not there. But, I tell you, these guys have put a really good follow up. Heavy, crunchy, thrash!
  • Why did they abandon what made them good?

Lazarus A.D. was amazing on their first album. The songs were well crafted, the drums were amazing and the guitars simply were what thrash needed to continue the revival. Aside from all of that, the vocals were harsh and in your face making this band really stand out from the other melodic wanna-be's out there. Black Rivers Flow puts them into the same grouping with all of those others out there now. There's nothing on this album that stands out and makes you get excited. The guitars are now bland and boring and the tempos have been slowed down considerably. They sound like Stone Sour or some other garbage that calls itself "hard rock". The inclusion of the clean vocals on this album is a complete sell out, too. There is no reason that the band should have recorded this album, just keep playing The Onslaught over and over instead. This is simply terrible.

It's so hard to find an original metal band these days. There are plenty of good metal bands. Then there is Lazarus A.D. Onslaught blew my mind. This just raped it. They sound like nothing else - a reinvention of 80s thrash mixed with influence from the New Wave of American Heavy Metal. Great stuff.
  • Same ol'

I'll stick to the harder debut album for now, this new record sounds like any ordinary melodic band out there. Melodic was good but now i'm just sick of it , its way over used.
