  • Good, but....

This is a very good soundtrack, but it doesn't feel like Dune without Brian Eno's "Prophecy Theme". Say whatever you will about the Toto OST. It's good too.
  • Good, but not what I wanted.

Though this very good music, this is not the soundtrack I was looking, for I was truly in search of the soundtrack to the David Lynch film adaption of 'Dune.' But that really is my fault. That being said, if you ARE indeed looking for the soundtrack to the more contemporary mini series of 'Dune,' by all means, purchase this! It is in fact great music.

Obviously, this person that has heard WAY better, hasn't truly seen the movie or listened to the audiobook of Dune. If you watch the movie from beginning to end or listened to the audiobook from the 1st chapter to the last, you will get a sense of what the characters went through. So don't sit here and "badmouth" something unless you've seen/listened to it in it's entireity. There are some people who love this film and those that don't. you're entitled to your opinion. This film is definitely a "must see".
  • Good but incomplete.

I love the soundtrack to this miniseries. The middle eastern influences are lovely and fit very well with the films desert backdrop. Much better than the choices for Lynches version. One thing I was disappointed in was that two of the films most unique, albeit short songs are not included. These are: the song Gurney plays on his baliset (lute) while Paul and Irulan dance to it, and the theme of house Corrino. (It is featured in several Corrino scenes but most prominently when Mother Mohiam is instructing Irulan on a ballet dance.)

This is a truly wonderful soundtrack. The music is soothing after a day of tension, but it is also good for preparing for a day of work. The rhythems are remeinistent of a Middle-Eastern culture mixed with Western culture. A good blend of the two styles of sound. Living in the Desert Southwest, I drive with this music playing and it just fits beautifully with the landscape. At home, the soundtrack helps to sink into the book a little bit more.
  • A better soundtrack than the movie soundtrack

Proof that a composer will do a better job than a rock band.
