Go see her live. She's amazing. Love the title track, it has so much to offer. And if you live in the Bay Area, check out one of her live shows. Her band is fantastic, and the vibe they give off is amazing. You won’t regret it!

Saw her live without knowing who she was and instantly said, "who is _that_ !" A forty-min set later I already DL'ed her album. Amazing singer. Fun and memorable.

This songbird is simply AMAZI NG!!! This CD is so well worth the wait; it shows such growth and maturity...... I love every track. My hope for Megan is that she soars as high as she possibly can!

I loved Megan's last full length album, "Freaky Little Story" and was a little nervous about the new record. Would I like it as much? I'm happy to report that I LOVE it! It's a different record than "Freakly Little Story" -- more mature, deeper somehow. Megan's vocals are still breathtaking, and the production is top notch. Standouts for me include the title track, "The Tragic Life of Caleb," "Fair Enough and Farewell," "My Obsession With Bees," and the album closer, "Show Up." Honestly, I haven't taken it out of my CD player since I picked it up. Why this girl is not more popular is beyond me - do yourself a favor and pick up the record, and go see Megan while she's out on tour. If you're a fan of talented muscian/singer/songwriters, you'll love Megan!

I've been a big fan since her days of performing here around town and I've really been looking forward to this new album. I have to say, it was well worth the wait! This is a great album! Megan's music and lyrics have always had a dreamlike quality that strikes a chord with me. It seems the deeper you dig into one of her songs the more you find and the more you appreciate. I would highly recommend this album and I also would highly recommend catching one of her performances. -Alfonso
  • a feast after a six year famine

Some artists fall into a rut; they find a niche and stick with it. Megan Slankard is not that type of artist. With "A Token of the Wreckage", Megan's four release and third full-length production, she has evolved and is finally hitting her stride. From a young girl with a guitar, she developed the ability to fully orchestrate a song with nothing but her own hands and voice, but even that was too limiting for this artist. Now with a stable backing band of Danny Blau on rhythm guitar and keyboards, Kyle Caprista on percussion and backing vocals, James Deprato on lead guitar and bay area stalwart Jeff Symonds laying down solid bass lines Megan has the ability to fully realize the orchestration she hears in her head. Many songs found on "Token" have been part of her live repertoire for three or more years, making them sound effortless even when wrapped in lilting guitars, complex harmonies and solid percussion while Megan's voice floats above. The overall effect is well engineered, if slightly restrained in comparison to a live performance. For the Megan fan, "Token" represents a satisfying meal after a six year famine and those new to this artist will find it an excellent introduction.

This long awaited fourth offering from Megan Slankard is her best yet. Soaring vocals, though provoking lyrics, and stunning musical compositions. One of the best female singer / songwriters ever. No collection is complete without this album.
