I have to say choosing my favorite album of all time isn't easy. I like a lot of music, and Mayday Parade is my favorite band, so I thought it HAD to be a Mayday Parade album. Looking at the three, I think this one is just the strongest. On this album they have developed their sound to be uniquely awesome, and almost all of the songs are great and memorable. I'll run down each song and explain why this is my favorite album of all time.
"Oh Well Oh Well" 9/10, great album opener, this song shows Mayday's proficiency in both acoustic and rock sounds, and it's very awesome to listen to, especially when you are listening to the album all the way through. "No Heroes Allowed" 8/10, not the most memorable song, but not bad by any means. "When You See My Friends" 10/10, I have no shame in saying this is my favorite song of all time. I love everything about this song, the lyrics, the music, and the AWESOME bridge. Amazing song, just about the perfect Mayday Parade song. "You're Dead Wrong", 8/10, pretty good acoustic song, but I still like "I Swear This Time I Mean It" from "Anywhere but Here" a little bit better. "Priceless" 9/10, very catchy song, sounds like it is lifted straight from Anywhere But Here, in a good way, fast paced, catchy, and awesome. "Stay" 10/10, easily the second best song here, amazing keyboard by Derek, and really awesome to listen to on rainy days. LOVE this song, and it is one of my favorite Mayday songs. "Call Me Hopeless, But Not Romantic" 9/10, this one definitely has the "A Lesson In Romantics" sound, and it's great. Just needs Jason Lancaster, then it would be perfect. If only… "Everything's an Illusion" 9/10, very good song, if you like "Terrible Things" and "Stay", you'll love this song. Kinda sad, but that's the point. Another good rainy day song :). "I'd Rather Make Mistakes Than Nothing At All" 8/10, pretty good song, pretty catchy and upbeat, only thing it's missing is something to make it unique. definitely good though. Without The Bitter the Sweet Isn't As Sweet" 7/10, not bad by any means, the reason I give it a 7 is it sounds a lot like "Three Cheers For Five Years" and I have to say that song is better… cause that one's amazing. "Happy Endings Are Stories That Haven't Ended Yet" 8/10 Mayday Parade is usually good with their album finishers ("You Be The Anchor…", "The End") and this one sounds unique but it lacks that quality that would get you to listen to it just by itself. Still not bad at all and not a bad finish to the album as a whole. Acoustic songs at the end: Amazing. Especially the "When You See My Friends" one. Get the Deluxe Version for these songs. It's worth it :D
And that's why this album is my favorite. Cannot wait for their 4th :D Keep it up Mayday! :D
