I love Regina. Her work is genius. I'm mostly writing this review to comment on the fact that "How" sounds like it could actually get radio play, which is rare for Regina and her avant-garde style.

And there's a reason why! Her previous effort, "Far" was a good abum but almost too polished as there were several high profile names associated with it. "What We Saw from the Cheap Seats" is both a return to form (see "Begin to Hope") - and IMO is her best effort yet. Regina's voice is top notch throughout and esp in "How". "Don't Leave Me" is a very catchy tune and pure Regina, in the true sense of the word. "All the Rowboats" is a very alternative sounding pop song, and "Jessica", "Firewood", and "Call Them Brothers" (peformed with her husband) are stand out songs. Excellent!

She sounds like Christina Perri and Haley Reinhart with a mixture of Fiona Apple..... I love it:)))))

I am 13 years old, and I have known and loved Regina Spektor since I was probably seven. This album is beautiful. My favorites, if I had to pick wouold be: "Don't Leave Me- Ne me Quitte Pas" , "Firewood" , the slightly Intense "All the rowboats" with gorgeus piano (I am teaching it to myself on piano) and the sad (look up the story) but sweet "Jessica" and "Ballad Of A Polititian" along with "The Party" that is cute and great. I totally reccomend this. :) I am in awe of her.
  • Great Album!

She never dissappoints! You can always tell a song is Regina's but you can never predict what she'll come up with next! "Oh Marcello" and "Small Town Moon" are my current favorites!

    1. Small Town Moon - 4/5 - It's a bit repetitive, but it's good. It's more like Begin to Hope than the others. 2. Oh Marcello - 4.5/5 - It's an older one and it's very reminiscent of Songs. The live version is much better though. 3. Don't Leave Me - 4/5 - The Songs version is ten times better. It's been made to be more like Far. The video is really good, though. 4. Firewood - 4.5/5 - It's a pretty good ballad, but it's not as good as Lulliby or 20 Years of Snow. 5. Patron Saint - 5/5 - Also very reminiscent of Songs. A lot of production but it's still pretty good! 6. How - 3.5/5 - I just don't like this song much. It's a ballad, but it sounds more like a ballad off of Far. 7. All the Rowboats - 5/5 - This could have been off of Soviet Kitsch. It's very dark, but quirky. 8. Ballad of a Politician - 5/5 - So incredible! Unlike anything she's ever done before. Very, very dark. Almost as dark as Daniel Cowman or Lounge. 9. Open - 5/5 - Tied with Ballad of a Politician for my favorite. This has been a fan favorite for a long time. Also very Soviet Kitsch-ish. The gasping makes the song complete. 10. The Party - 4/5 - Sounds like one of the better songs off of Far. The buzzing made my day though! It was on her 2nd and 3rd album and I'm happy to see it on her 6th. 11. Jessica - 5/5 - Very short. I wish it was longer, because it's very good. It's a sad one, though. 12. Call Them Brothers - 5/5 - Really nice. A melding of Regina's and Only Son's sounds. I saw them live and they were great! 13 and 14. The Russian Songs - 4.5/5 - They're really great, but I wish I could understand them. The music reminds me of Apres Moi.

It's a great album, but it's not her best. She's so creative with an amazing voice. truly, an artist to be treasured
