Lex Hives

I just started listening to the album today and cannot get enough of it. Uppity and dancable and rockin!

Some really catchy, hard rocking' songs this time around. Good job, boys! "These Spectacles Reveal the Nostalgics" is a great little return to some of their earlier, more punk-y stuff. I even heard these all live last night and it just solidified my love for this album! Go buy it!! THAT'S AN ORDER!!

This album is amazing they do it every time they are like the band I have been waiting for!

Feels a little rushed. Its a short album so all of the songs need to be top notch, and they aren't. I really enjoyed their innovation and experimentation on The Black and White Album so this kind of feels like a step back for them. The last album was so diverse and definitely the biggest risk The Hives have taken in their career, and for this fan it paid off. I loved the mix of old Hives and new Hives, which was an odd sort of waltzy, almost hip hop sound. This release however leaves very little influence from that record intact, and instead plays it safe by going back to their original recipe for short but sweet punk songs (with the exception of a few tracks). Thats not to say this is a bad CD though. I enjoy it, and several of the songs are just as good as anything this band has produced. But something just doesn't add up for me, therefore I can't give this a perfect rating. Hopefully for their next release they will go back to the drawing board and try to push their sound forward again because believe it or not it works.

More than happy with this new album, listened to it the first time when it was streamed on their facebook page, couldn't wait more until I bought the release. The Hives didn't change much, they're still as great as they used to be. Those of you hives-fans, don't miss out on this one !

a good return to the slick, concise rock-n-roll that the band was known for -- definitely worth your time.

I continue to be amazed how, with each new album, The Hives manage to create something totally new and unique while still sounding like The Hives. Lex Hives doesn't sound like Veni Vidi Vicious. It doesn't sound like Tyrannosaurus Hives. It doesn't sound like The Black and White Album. It just sounds like 100 percent awesome.
