  • A Royal Southern Brotherhood truly united!

Being raised in Memphis, Soul and Blues are embedded into your veins. You can't shake it, it's always there...even though you may spend the next half of your life other places in the world..it only takes a moment to ignite when you hear those familiar sounds. RSB did just that! They embody that passion and soul that somehow has been lost along the way. This album is far above "playing it safe". They have a broad range offered in this album, from the funkiest jazz /blues beats to the deepest soul. Devon Allman is an original all his own. I can't wait to hear where this Royal Southern Brotherhood takes us next! I LOVED IT AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

I just the band last night for the first time at The Bull Run in Shirley, MA. I loved them the first song! With the three vocalists, they offer a great variety of blues and rock. I bought the album right away.
  • A truly Super Group!

Too often, bands hyped as "super groups" turn out to be mediocre, at best. However, Royal Southern Brotherhood lives up to the royalty claim in its name and the super-group descriptive! This is a case of the band being more than the sum of its parts, and with the musicians on the roster, that is HUGE! I heard the song "Sweet Jelly Donut" mentioned on the local PBS roots music show while driving, and couldn't wait to get to my computer to search it out. Just bought the album, have only listened to the entire thing twice, but I am hooked! This is one of the best blues-rock albums I have bought in years--and if you love rock, blues, funk, or just plain incredible music played by soulful musicians with serious chops, you should buy it, too! I will anxiously await RSB's first gig in Ohio!!!!

Southern Blues / Rock / Funk / Cajun / Carribean Soul Difficult to classify but impossible to deny. At a time when songs of doom and gloom and hopelessness and dispair abound, Royal Southern Brotherhood delivers a message of hope and redemption and a clear vison of a New Horizon
  • Not the best relase

Hate to say this given the line up but not impressed. After four full listens just can't wrap my fingers around this relase simply disappointing and its missing something.
  • Mike Zito: THE KING!

Actually had a chance to see these guys back in March and they were amazing!!! I have been waiting for this album to come out ever since then and finally picked up. Worth every penny and then some. If you haven't seen this band live, then you don't understand the creative and soulful groove these guys are capable of.
  • This is a great album!

There have been several good albums come out recently but this is my favorite, by far! There isn't a bad song on the album. It is rare that I can sit down with a brand new album and just like the whole thing from start to finish on the first listen. This is one of those albums. At the risk of sounding biased, I have been a long time Mike Zito fan and I just love this. If you are familiar with Mike's other work, this sounds like a very natural progression from his last few albums. I highly recommend this album plus any of Mike's older work. I was unfamiliar with Devon Allman's Honeytribe before this work but what a great discovery. Now I have two great new albums to listen to! On top of that, the rhythm section is amazing. The drummer is so slick and the bass player just kills. I haven't even mentioned Cyril Neville yet, what a great voice. I am going to be lucky enough to see them play live two days in a row in Nebraska in early June. I can't wait for what is sure to be a great show. To sum it up: You can not go wrong with this album.
  • A Royal Disappointment

The idea of grafting neo-soul and NOLA funk intrigues, and this band certainly has the talent to pull it off. Unfortunately, RSB delivers a bauble polished to a high sheen but devoid of soul *or* funk. Given their jam band pedigree, you'd like to see them stretch out occasionally and take a few chances, but its all so constrained and tasteful and dull. Next time, loosen the reins and let these thoroughbreds run.
