A true Jazz-Rock Supergroup...these have to be four of the greatest musicians in the world! Jack Bruce, Vernon Reid, John Medeski, and Cindy Blackman-Santana create an awesome musical force who play music unlike anything today! They play music grounded in their love for each other as well as for the music itself. And (as Charles Mingus said) they "make the complicated simple...awesomely simple...and that is creativity!" Their live concert in New York City was a once-in-a-lifetime experience...and THIS album is an opportunity to hear them again..and belongs in every great music collection!

Cindy Blackman and Jack Bruce really provide a killer backbone as the rhythym section. Jack Medeski and Vernon Reid flow flawlessly over the rhythym as a powerful light section of the band. It seems they started with the perfect source of inspiration, Tony Williams, and then soared way beyond that with their own creative material. Must say this is the best album I have gotten in quite awhile, so happy these musicians collaborated .
  • So great to hear REAL fusion in 2012.

Originally "jazz-fusion" was a combination of the improvisation and musicianship of jazz combined with the intensity (and volume) of rock music. Then some how jazz-fusion became "smooth jazz." Spectrum Road are here to set the record straight all in the name of one of the original jazz-fusion artists and one of the most influential drummers of all time, Tony Williams. A great debut, and I hope to hear much more from these guys in the future. I also hope it will inspire other musicians to check out real jazz-fusion.
