  • Still a good album, but...

Since I thought the first two albums were some of the best I’ve ever heard, I try not to look at Safe Travels in the light of the first two albums, because it certainly doesn’t compete with them. That being said, Safe Travels is still a good album. The problem with it is that it feels rushed, and it feels rushed because Tommy and Ben didn’t go nearly their full potential in some of the songs. The depth and creativity that I loved so much in the first two albums is simply scarce in Safe Travels (and in some parts, nonexistent), and consequently we have songs like “Dead” and “Devils On Our Side”, which contain good vocals and not much else. I love JtG, and the last thing I want is for them to fall away like many music artists end up doing. Guys, if you’re reading this, DON’T GIVE UP!!

The song "Dead" has brought me to tears multiple times. Not that I'm a wimp, but just listen to the lyrics dude "Say When" and "Dead" are by far my favorite! Love you guys!

Let me start by saying I love JTG and have been to numerous live shows. I find Safe Travels to be my least favorite of their three albums. It just seems to be missing some edginess that made the sweet pop tunes tolerable. I actually find Tommy's contributions more to my liking than Ben's here which is unusual for me. That's not to say that it doesn't have its moments and I am listening waiting for that moment when it clicks, but I was hoping for a more immediate "WOW!". I understand that there exists a more serious tone here as the guys have been through a lot, so maybe the quirks are less appropriate. I like it and am still trying to love it. I have to add I agree with a previous reviewer who criticized the use of the bass drum to compensate for lack of a bass guitar. A bit too much. Still, can't wait for the next release and the next time the guys come around.
  • It's AH-MAZING! :D

This album is BRILLIANT. I love these guys, and I can't wait until they're big. Love the previous albums, but this one tops it all. Keep rocking, guys! :)
