It is not very often I come across a song I like, but when I heard about this band I was speechless.

This album is part of a collection my junkie roommate lifted from the house. It sounds just as great as it did years ago.

iTunes doesn't have a lot of the punk bands that I want to listen to in the store. The Circle Jerks, for some reason, aren't in the American store. Don't ask me why. Anyway, when I went to go look for The Teen Idles, there they were. I bought this and was pleased beyond belief. iTunes may not have all the punk it needs to have in its store, but if I had to pick something to download from the store, it would be this. Go get it.

  • Excellent example of DC hardcore punk

This historic release in hardcore punk remains probably the purest example of the genre. While Bad Brains dabbled in reggae and Minor Threat developed their song structure after their Idle days, The Teen Idles played undiluted, un-messed around with, punk rock. The EP is characteristically short. Clocking in at about 9 minutes, it has the same effect as an electric shock: quick and soon passed, but deadly powerful. Quite a contrast to Black Sabbath who used powerful chords and sludginess to convey their power. A must-buy for any die-hard hardcore punk fan or Minor Threat junkie. A must-sample for anyone trying to understand what hardcore punk was. "Get Up and Go" is the stand-out track here for one-song buyers.

This is one of the best bands i've ever heard. I just wish there were more songs to listen to.
  • Okay but it's an important punk rock artifact

Although this album is rather cut and paste punk rock it is an extremely important artifact. Not only because it was Ian MacKaye(Bass) ,Jeff Nelson(Drums)(Ian and Jeff would go on to start Minor Threat) and also Nathan Strejcek's(Youth Brigade) first band but because of what it meant for punk rock itself. The recording of this album put Ian and the boys into contact with Inner Ear Studios while would house pretty much every dischord album to date. Also once the band split up they decided that they would combine their money they made and put out a record, thus Dischord was born. Thanks to Dischord we have some of the greatest east coast punk bands on record for generations to hear. The music is a little derviative but remember this is when this kinda of music was almost unheard of. This is the sound of a movement beginning. It helped pave the way for what punk rock was to be become
