    its AWESOME that these recordings sound so crisp, BUT the trumpets are too quite! I like them blaring! They are kinda just backround. Maybe im just bias cuz i am a trumpet player....dunno.

    most of these songs sound sooooo much better than in the original recordings, i dont know how they did it but this recording makes everything sound so crisp compared to the other recordings ive heard. also it has so many great songs that any jazz lover must have.

    These big band compilations look like reissues from the original Time/Life collection which I had on cassette. I loved the collection and wore it out, playing it so much. The critics did not like the recordings since they were not from the original artists, even though a lot of the original big band artists did participate in the re-recordings using the original arrangments. The big advantage to these particular compilations is that they were recorded at the time using the most up-to-date recording technology available in the 70's. The albums on ITunes are a bargain compard to what Time/Life was charging for them.
