    While this album has many great songs, *cough*The Blue Danube*cough*, it is never the less a good example of the patriotism the government tries to force down each and every Americans throat!

    This is an excellent walk through musical history. These tracks realted to various presidents and administrations is far beyond reading a dry text book on presidential history. Each one brings a piece of our past alive. The great men who have led this conutry have left such an amazing legacy enjoy it with another great american legacy the US Marine Band. Great historical songs performed by one of history's great bands. You're sure to enjoy it for sure.

    WOW. If you are a music educator or military band enthusiast, this CD is a definite "must have" addition to your collection. The recordings are remarkably clean, including the historic 1921 track of the "Maple Leaf Rag." I must admit that the "historic" 1814 arrangement of the "Star-Spangled Banner" caught me off guard, and may take a few repetitions for the listener to truly appreciate it. Woven into the fabric of the recording are some clips from past presidential speeches, including a dedication to the Marine Band by the late President Reagan. Unlike other recordings of band music, I feel that these spoken-word tracks add a great deal of context around the title theme "Hail to the Chief." Kudos! Despite what the tracks may say, I really enjoyed the CD and think the Marine Band is a great GREAT ensemble. I guess I'm a little too nit-picky for my own good! I wrote them with a conductor's ear and hopefully you find them interesting.
