I'm a Jump Little Children fan, but more for Jay's voice than their music as a whole. I think, now that I own this CD and have listened a handfull of times, that Rosebud is a much better vehicle to showcase that voice than JLC. Now, both have their value, but while every JLC album I own has a couple tracks I dislike altogether, this one is really exceptional all the way through. Even the less amazing songs are still melodious and well done. I think the instrumentation is really alive, coming across as mischievous, delicate, light and heavy at various times, and forms a more fluid relationship with Jay's voice than other albums.Yes, buy it.

When I first heard this album in 2003, I was entranced by "My Dear, My Dear" because of my love for the cello. This album became a soundtrack to my life, accompanying records by Jump, Little Children. The music is warm while capturing specific experiences and adding a new light to them.
  • If Jay Clifford wrote it, it's good!

If you hold the above hypothesis in mind and take your time to really listen to the music, you too will experience the beauty of Rosebud. Also, if you haven't yet listened to Jump, Little Children...please do your self a favor and look them up! I don't know what I'd do without their music, it gets me through every day. Also, be on lookout for Jay Clifford's new solo album coming out sometime early in '07.
  • It's Jay...I can't give any less than 5

Finally, they've managed to get Rosebud's stuff on iTunes. For those of you who aren't acquainted with the orgasmic sonic joy that is Jump, Little Children...well, shame on you first of all. But second of all, you should know that their longtime frontman, Jay Clifford, has a side project called Rosebud. The first eponymous Rosebud album (also on iTunes) is entirely comprised of torchlight jazz numbers and is really, really good. This has it's "jazzy" moments as well, but goes in some almost Beatles-esque directions at times. Still, it's an amazing platform for Jay's transcendant vocals and represents perfectly the tragedy that talent has nothing to do with success in the world of music. Because dang, Jay is talented, but somehow JoJo sells more records. Please please please give this record a chance. It will be one of the happiest surprises of your life. Also, be on the lookout for new Rosebud stuff in months to come. J,LC has taken a "break" (a nice way to say they've broken up but don't want to admit it), but all 5 members are working with their always good and sometimes awesome side projects.
  • PLEASE, take the time to listen

If you are not familiar with Jay Clifford's voice, you are in for a real treat. It may be an aquired taste, but his voice is just so amazing because it's so different and gorgeous. If you are familiar with the band Jump, Little Children, you have heard Jay sing. This cd is great to listen to getting ready for bed, when you feel a bit emotional, or when you just want to chill out. My favorite songs on the cd are "Delicate," "Don't Feel a Thing," and "Beautiful Moment," but they're really all amazing. This cd is practically my life.
