- To "Honesty"

Leo Sayer was not sued by Leonard Cohen because he didn't write When I Need You. Albert Hammond and Carol Bayer Sager did. The melody was later determined to be in the Public Domain. Do the research before you accuse.

With a fro like that you better bring it. Rest assured, Leo Sayer has crossed genres dressed as a clown with folk pop, country, and even disco for a short time and brought it with each one. His voice is as unique as it is amazing. Supposedly The Dirty Masons concept EP Pocket Kama Sutra is based loosely on a character derived from Leo Sayer.
His version of the Sonny Curtis/Jerry Allison hit More Than I Can Say still brings me back to memories of early/mid eighties family vacations, cramped in a car with my dad threatening to slap our faces off if we did no quit "bickering" amongst ourselves.
Sayer is a craftsman that lives in legendary status.

HONESTY? Leonard Cohen won a lawsuit against Sayer for plagiarizing "Famous Blue Raincoat."

I was fortunate enough to meet Leo Sayer at a Variety Club dinner dance in the UK in the late 90's. We watched him with Craig Little (neighbours) and his wife from a balcony. He was brilliant. I was sad to see he had now left the UK for Oz.
- More than a one-hit wonder...

After sampling many of these songs, I never realized how many good songs Leo had. I could only remember a couple, but Living in a Fantasy, Long Tall Glasses and More than I Can Say were all staples of the 1970s. I'm actually going to bite the bullet and buy the whole dang thing. Nice album.

Even if you didn't grow up in the 70's, this music has a real emotional honesty to it that makes it memorable. Leo's voice is unpretentious and heartfelt. "Jesse" being a prime example of this. His greatest hits album is full of love songs that still hold a lot of weight. A rare find.

Leo has always been great. I wish he would team up with Elton John and do a couple songs and maybe a duet in the future.
