I don't understand why i-tunes is saying this album was released in 1971. Maybe Jay Clifford was born in 1971. I know someone who saw them together in Charleston SC performing this material in the mid 90's and selling this Rosebud CD. I-tunes kinda needs to get thier act together. Great CD, buy it, you will not regret it. I wish Jump hadn't broken up. <;(
  • This Review Is Wildly Off The Mark....

In addition to being woefully confusing, this review is wildly off the mark in identifying the artists that participated in this Rosebud project. First off, this record was released independently in the mid-nineties, not January 2005. That may have been the digital release date, however. Rosebud featured Jay Clifford (acoustic guitar), Jonathon Gray (double bass), Amanda Kapousouz (violin), and Evan Bivins (drums). Later, the group would also include other musicians such as pianist Michael Bellar of the New York City-based jazz outfit, As-Is Jazz Ensemble. And, while there were a myriad of styles of music that informed Rosebud's music, the group was heavily indebted to the likes of Jango Reinhardt and Stephan Grappelli, as well as other figures from the heyday of Hot Jazz.

I read the posted review, and I can't dispute it in the main. However, the CD being reviewed is not the one available for sale. Would that it were. Nothing against the one being made available, I just have a personal interest in the other. Jerry Yester

First off, the album review is all wrong - it's a different Rosebud band! Not released in 1970! More like 2003-5 range! The lead singer and composer is Jay Clifford, of Jump, Little Children band. He is a one of the most talented musicians, songwriters, and singers in existence of time and space! Gorgeous voice! The songs have great melodies and instrumentals are splendid! This music is hard to find elsewhere, especially on CD. I especially recommend "We'll See", "We Have to Start Somewhere", "Don't Put It On", and "Behind the Moon". Make sure to check out the Vespers album - all the songs there are wonderful.

I just bought this CD off of I-tunes....trust me it's impossible to find anywhere else, and it's definately an incredible CD. If you are a fan of Jump Little Children I'm sure you'd like it. It's a lot different than JLC, it's just their lead vocalist Jay Clifford on guitar with a violin and a little bass. It has a real lo-fi old school sound that works really well. So please support an incredible man and buy this CD.

    By just walk away...
it's true. these albums were put out by NC native Jay Clifford and some of the other Jump Little Children folks and Winston-Salem riff-raff. You will love the self-titled album. It's sweet. Fix the review!!!!!
