Jethro Tull brought the world a blend of folk, blues, classical and rock music that rivaled any other band. In the simplicity of their acoustic numbers, they go unnoticed by the masses that demand a danceable songs and in the complexity of their time signatures through impeccable musicianship they go unnoticed by the many that demand simplicity.
It's 50 years already and Jethro Tull deserves to be in The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Not the cast of charactyers that have come and gone since 1980...but, Ian Anderson, Martin Barre, Barrie Barlow, John Evan and Jeffrey Hammond!

BUT I’d prefer to have the choice of buying their first 3 albums instead of a choppy retrospective of songs I don’t like (starting with Aqualung, which began a pretentious series that I felt were unlistenable. 3 stars for the few songs from “Jethro Tull”, “Benefit” and my favorite, Stand Up”. Your choice. I don’t have one.

I spent a lot of time trying to find one particular album that would fill the Jethro Tull shaped void in my music library, and stumbled on this. All of my favorites are here, and the price is excellent for the number of songs on the disc. If you're looking for one disc to sum up Jethro Tull for you, this is the one.

This collection is a great, concise overview of most of Jethro Tull's studio career, covering their 1968 debut to their last album on Chrysalis in 1995, with an understandable emphasis on their 1970s output. Tracks are well-chosen considering the 78-minute time limitation. It's easy to name songs that should have been included, but much harder to say what should have been bumped to make room for them. Time constraints resulted in seamless new edits of three songs, of interest to completists. This compilation is an introduction to the band rather than a comprehensive overview, but it serves its purpose well.
