I stumbled across this gem late - Dec 2016. I've been a fan of VT for some time, always appreciative of how she as melded a classical piano background into her work. This album, in my view, reveals a maturity and complexity to her work that provides a much-needed and welcomed shift from mass produced "pop" music, offered by Barbie Doll caricatures posing as artists in carefully crafted marketing campaigns It's the music, stupid. Well done VT.

While I like Vienna Teng’s last two albums, I didn’t love them, like I did the two before those. Aims is back on track with really amazing music! Seems NY and continuing her education was the right thing to do for Vienna. I’m excited beyond excited to have this album. Can’t wait to see the live performances! Go Vienna!

If this album doesn't make her a superstar, I don't know what will. Every song is overwhelmingly beautiful. Goosebumps. How can anyone listen to The Hymn of Acxiom and not be moved? Congratulations Vienna on reaching the mountaintop!

I absolutely adore the content of Aims. I own the CD already, but I had to buy another copy to show my support. The music is catchy, it lifts your spirits, and gets you thinking about life and all its complexities.

I first heard of Vienna Teng after the Hymn of Acxiom was announced to be apart of a Drum Corps International show. The corps using this song, the Bluecoats, are up there in my favorites, so I looked up that song and immediately fell in love with it. Since then I have purchased this album and I simply love it. This is definitely an album I'd recommend to most people, if not all people.

I listed to the album only once before hearing it live, and at first was unsure about it. However, most of the songs have grown on me, and now I listen to this album more often than any of her others. Level Up, Goodnight New York, Landsailor, Copenhagen and In the 99 are my favorites.

I’ve really liked all of Vienna’s records, but I can honestly say this is the first one I’ve ever had an urge to dance to. All the craftsmanship, and caring are still there, as are the melodies, but now there’s also energy and real joy in the performances.
  • Wonderful exploration of sound

Vienna goes a new direction with her latest work, and she explores new sounds with harmonizer, glass filled with water, even cups on a percussion box. (Cups on a percussion box?! Go catch her on tour to find out!) I gained a much deeper appreciation for her music after seeing her show. Behind each song is a story, and Vienna a beautiful storyteller.

This album is a glimpse into Vienna's overall depth of talent. She is not simply a singer, or even just a musician. Vienna is one of the great artists and poets of our time. Even though this album has a very different sound than any of her previous albums, it is still unmistakably a Vienna Teng album. This album is definitive proof that Vienna is the antithesis of musicians like Creed's Scott Stapp who define themselves with a certain style or sound. Instead, it seems that Vienna can slip into any style or sound of her choosing and wield it at her discretion as easily as person changing their style of clothing for a given occassion. She can do what they do, but they cannot do what she does. If you have the opportunity to see her live, you will also see that a studio recording cannot contain the richness and true range of her voice. There are some singers who use the studio to mask and enhance their voice like a photographer will use Photoshop to touch up photographs. It is essentially the opposite with her. A studio recording cannot completely capture the essence of her abilities much like a painting of a mountain scene cannot compare with seeing it for yourself. If you are a Vienna Teng fan, this album is an essential piece of the collection.
