Great album worth the money! I wish more of the songs were a little faster but the slow ones really get down to his true songwriting. Nuevo Laredo and girls from Texas are hits!!! Fun party songs. Love seeing him perform them live!
  • Outstanding updates

The covers (Bare Jr, Dylan, Band, Kinky, Sahm, brother Bruce, and his sister's songs) are just about as good as the originals but they have that CR touch that makes them just as fun. Love it. Can't wait to here these live!
  • Yeah, you need to buy it, now.

If we were livin' in pre-iTunes days, I woulda bought this album simply for Charlie's version of sister Robyn Ludwick's Out of These Blues, which Merle Haggard woulda covered back in the day. Brand New Me is another grown-ups, which no longer have a place on mainstream country radio. And covers of When I Paint My Masterpiece, Wild Man from Borneo, and Nuevo Laredo--Hell yeah, Charlie!
  • Experimental, no. Great record, YES!

Good solid songs and really good production make this a great release from Charlie. Nothing at all experimental here, that was on the Beautiful Day album. This is Charlie finally getting back to what makes him great. He does justice to the two covers here, especially Wild Man from Borneo, a Kinky Friedman classic. Good music, priced right. Buy it!

I thought the same about "Monte Carlo", loved it within a few seconds. Charlie has always struck a cord with me on his selected lyrics! The Tex-mex influences are terrific!

Great tunes as expected from a true song craftsman. Slightly different than previous records with the honest songwriting you expect from Charlie. I've listened to it times in a row and can't pick a favorite yet. They are all just fantastic.
  • Its Charlie Robison so of course your gonna check it out if you came this far….

I bought this album right away and I have to say its very experimental. The Mexican influence is definently there in this album a lot more than previous albums. I still have to listen to it through a few more times but I think its gonna grow on me. Just off of a first listen I recommend Monte Carlo, that song stuck out right off the bat. I say buy it, you won't be disappointed but have an open mind. Its a different album, he stepped out a little on this one but its not a bad thing. Thanks Charlie for another album!
