This has become one of my favorite albums. Others include Kind of Blue, Apocalypse, Bill Evans with Symphony, etc. so that gives you some idea how I feel about Eliane Elias’ accomplishment here. This is a high point for Bossa Nova. Her voice is beyond sultry but honest and sincere, not overly stylized, just perfect. The orchestrations on this album of beautiful and well-chosen songs are just beautiful. Hey, what can I say. I’m a jazz pianist and I think this is one of the great albums.

Elian Elias is just about the greatest pianist I have ever heard. With all due respect to Diana Krall and all the other great piano players whom I admire so much, to me they now seem to pale in comparison. Her chords are so beautiful, her playing technique and arrangements so overwhelming. The beauty and melancholy of her music, her natural.. and I might say ..sultry vocals touches one's soul. "Bossa Nova Stories" and all her other albums is a must for all music lovers.
