Bar none Colin and the crew delivered on this one. I turn it on and can't turn it off. It just does not get much better than this and has become one of my favorite Decemberists albums. Give it a listen and open your mind. Safe travels!

I can’t get past the lyrics on the Rake’s Song – way too disturbing. I know it’s a character in a story, and he’s supposed to be the villain and all, but out of context I just can’t listen to it.
- My Favorite Album of All Time

From the first time I listened to this album, it has been my all time favorite album.
No other album brings out so much imagination and creativity than Hazards of Love. It is such a lyrical and musical force and some of the riffs are heavy as metal. The other guest vocalists are amazing and everything just comes together so perfectly.
I would recommend this album to anyone who appreciates a journey when listening to an ENTIRE album front to back without skipping any songs. It is incredible and ever time I take the journey I find myself amazed and jealous that it will be pretty much impossible to ever find another album like this.
And furthermore, after l listened to this I was able to find a lot of old concept albums from the 60's and 70's that I really came to enjoy. There is nothing better than a creative (and possible drug inspired) imaginative concept album.

Such an amazing album from beginning to end, and that sound engineer... Man, they just don't have sound engineers of this caliber anymore...not enough money to hire someone this good now that nobody pays for albums anymore... And the newer music really suffers.

Taken as one continuous piece a la Jethro Tull's masterwork "Thick As A Brick", The Decemberists deliver a modern Prog-Rock masterpiece.
- Amazing!

This has been my favorite album (period) for years.
I would not necessarily recommend this if you're the kind of person who likes to skip between songs or who leaves their player on shuffle constantly...but if you're going to listen to an album straight through, this one is completely phenomenal.
