This album has stood the test of time here in 2016. The whole concept, the themes, the vocals ...oh my god, the vocals! Dan Wydent, holy S! The brooding doom and frothing aggression. I started painting my nails and wearing eye makeup because of Jesse Smith in this photo shoot! Hey, Jesse, I know you've been long gone from the band but if you ever see this message, you were a huge positive influence to me man, thank you!

This album is one of my favorites to date even in 2014. I listen to both secular metal and Christian metal (I grew up on Christian metal and when I first found this band, I instantly loved it.) Why is it so good, well its the singers screams, and yes as the other reviewer put it, his raw emotion makes you love the music even more. Love the music and definetely would recommend this to anybody!

I was never a fan of all of Zao's Discography. I came across them as a byproduct of listening to Living Sacrifice. This album though, there is something about it that makes me still desire to listen to it to this day. Maybe it is the haunting words to The Ghost Psalm, or just the emotion that oozes out of "Savannar" when the singer screams "She was alive". Perhaps I am being too philosophic about an album but it conveys more emotions of fear, apathy, and anxiety than most music I hear these days,,, well maybe that is a good thing, but I am far more moved by this album.
