  • My Least Favorite Used Album To Date

I still like this album. It’s not bad but I find it to be their worst attempt at a record. I still enjoy all the songs. The Used are a very versatile band and that’s what I love about them. And I’d say they succeeded at making a gross pop sound with this record. Even though I would say it’s their least hard hitting record to date it’s not bad. It’s a good thing when a band never has any bad songs. That’s why I love The Used.

I know this came out in 2014, but I just picked it up today after taking a break from The Used after Vulnerable (not a bad album, but it didn't follow up Artwork very well in my opinion, which is my favorite album by them). Now I don't typically get into political themed music, but because of the society we are living in right now, as well as my immense interest in the 2016 presidential race, the anti-establishment message that is delivered throughout the album was a pleasant surprise for me, especially being a Bernie Sanders supporter. With that said, I thoroughly enjoyed the album, but I can see why those who don't look for politics in their music wouldn't enjoy it, and I do hope their next album is less political than this one.

From one diehard to any others out there, you will love what this album brings. the lyrics are a more direct approach than what they've done in the past but its all still there. Bert's vocals are the best they've been in years. Quinn brings both heavy and soft guitar riffs. Jeph has some sick bass lines, and Dan wraps it up with solid drums fills. If you have been calling for "old" the used, only buy 'Cry'. All the low ratings will be those who only want the old stuff back, or those who dont get what the used is about. This album isnt for the people who are super religious, or rich, or want the government to control everything, and get everything handed to you. This album fights all those things like they always have but more directly. You're going to get uproaring lyrics and vocals, along with soft beautiful melodies. 10/10 from a die-hard fan. Keep it up!

I don't feel like this is their best, it seems like everyone giving 5 stars is going off of Cry, but the whole cd itself isn't my favorite. There are defiantly really good one, but it's not my top one.

This one is much more poppy sounding than the others. I liked Artwork better, but still appreciate this one.

If you're a true fan of The Used, you'll know no albums they come out with now will ever be able to compare with their first and second albums. Once Branden left the band their sound changed for the worst. Personally they just keep coming out with worse and worse music and its upsetting.

I've listened to every song I've gotten my hands on by these guys and I just don't know if this album is one I can get behind. A lot of the hook in prior albums was the consistent themes. Don't get me wrong, I like changing subjects once in a while, but it's hard to hear political material at times from a band that, at least in my mind, has a grounding in heartbreak, depression, and self-discovery. That said, still an album worth buying at this point BUT I used to praise the band for making random strings of lyrics MAKE SENSE. That was really powerful. Genius, in fact. I'm gonna keep giving The Used their due attention whenever I can but I need the next album to blow me away.
  • Two good songs

Was really let down by this album. The opening track "revolution" is a bit fast paced and has some screams in it which I loved. But as the album goes on it gets slower and slower. More and more boring. I regret buying this.
