Dongs of Sevotion is easily the strongest album of Bill Callahans long career. Here we find nearly ever element which made previous Smog albums so wonderful. The sadness of The Doctor Came At Dawn, the beauty of Red Apple Falls, the darkness of Burning Kingdom, and even some of the textural experimentation of early Smog recordings are all here in fighting form, showing better than ever why Mr. Callahan remains, to this day, one of the gems of 20th - 21st century music.
