Shabooh Shoobah is among the best albums of the 1980s and alerted the world to the greatness of INXS. Along with U2's War and REM's Reckoning, it's a must-own for early 1980's alternative rock. This album provides a raw, creative, memorable and breakthrough glimpse of what would become an exceptional musical group over the next decade and beyond. It's too bad they couldn't keep it together longer.

This is the best INXS album, in my opinion. Aside from the two big hits, the rest of the songs are really good. Also they hadn't succumbed to 80s-era overproduction yet. There's a feeling on this record that their others don't have. There's a little bit of amateurism (in the best sense) on it that gives it a spark.

It was the first INXS album I bought, basically 'cause Richard Blade told me to back in '83. It was a good purchase. I wore the vinyl out. It showed these lads truly had potential, and their future was pleasantly surprising.
