I hadn't heard much of Eden West, but I took a shot and it was well worth it. Their music is heartfelt, non-formulaic, and avoids clichés. That's the best part. It's original, yet still familiar, and sounds wonderful.
The music is beautifully simple, and nicely written. The production isn't fuzzy, or shallow, but doesn't throw every pitch at you at once. It's a nice balance. It's music that tells a story, and tells it well in it's style, content, and production.
Their style reminds me a little of Counting Crows, Van Morrison, and Ben Folds (with some guitar) thrown in a mixer. The lyrics and singing are really what stand out to me. He's got a nice Adam Durits (Counting Crows), meets Ed Kowalczyk (Live) thing going on.
I really was pleasantly surprised by this find, and I'm gonna keep on listening.
