I've been a fan of this band since TFTLA. Like other reviewers, I wasn't expecting IQ to survive, let alone improve, after Martin Orford's departure (BTW, his solo material is really good!). It took me several months to figure out that Frequency was my favorite IQ album. I'm not sure yet if Road of Bones is better than Frequency, but it's certainly up there. It's darker and more atmospheric, with tremendous attention to detail in the sound engineering. It's worth owning just to test out your audio equipment - especially the ride cymbals and tomtoms at the start of Constellations. (It's strange that the stand-out track is an outtake on the bonus disc!?). An outstanding effort from IQ.

I have been listening to IQ for years and own all of their albums. The Road of Bones is by far their best effort yet. The funny thing is -- I thought IQ was done for. After Martin Orford quit the band, I figured they would gradually dissolve. After all, one of their key members and song writing contributors was absent. Last night, for some reason, I decided to check if IQ was up to anything new. To my chagrin, they had just released this double album the day before. What a wonderful coincidence! I had no idea it was released. I previewed the first few tracks and then bought it. I am so glad I did. It is very strange. I just had a feeling that I should check out what IQ was up to. I didn't receive any notification of a new release. I am not into spiritual or metaphysic beliefs, but that was really weird. How did this desire to check into IQ get into my mind? The music is powerful and completely true to IQ's sound. Pretty much every reviewer has given this 5 stars. I am not alone. This is, by far, the best IQ album ever. It really is inspiring to see how they not only didn't give up, but have done the best work of their career. Not only is this a great record --- it is inspiration!

Better than Frequency, to me. Up for CD of the year, so far.
