Hard to believe that the studio albums are the "tame" version of this band (check out Let the Healing Begin and Santa Fe Live). It's HOT! Great tunes, great arrangements, great performance, and great production! I'd also like to put in a plug for Jerry Lopez's Negrita album also. I assume it predates SF&FCH, but it has a few of the same tunes. Not quite as hip as SF&FCH, but outstanding, nonetheless.

I was fortunate enough to be introduced to this band by a friend in Las Vegas a couple of years ago. I was immediately blown away by their collective professionalism & "tightness" as a group. No small feat for a 15 piece band! they are all consummate musicians who work different venues in Vegas. Once a week, they get together to perform music THEIR way; the way most of us like to hear music performed. To say that this latest offering from this band is "good" is a gross understatement. It is just flat our phenomenal. After my first exposure to them, I immediately went out & bought everything they had recorded together; studio albums as well as live recordings. This latest venture is their best yet. If you like Tower of Power, Santana, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Chicago, you'll love this band. They are a funky combination of them all with a little bit of Tito Puente added in for salsa! Buy it. You will NOT be disappointed.......

If you're a fan of horn bands, this is an absolute MUST-purchase. If you're plain a lover of great music, it's a must-buy. It's one of those CDs that will have long-lasting power. Funk, jazz, soul -- it's here, all wrapped into one. Santa Fe is back with another incredible record of music, drawing from the predecessors (aforementioned in the other customer reviews on here), only taking it up a notch from its last release "When The Curtain Goes Up" (2009). The effort ... clearly... is heard when you listen to these tracks. Off the chain! What I especially appreciate is Santa Fe, as a unit, wrote & recorded these songs. It would have been enough to re-cover Tower Of Power and include a likely list of tunes w/ vocals. Instead, we've been treated to original (I think) jams. While you'll instantly hear the influences of other horn bands, you'll relish the nuances here that really give Santa Fe its own signature sound. See this outfit weekly at The Palms (in Las Vegas) for $10. Or, perhaps, hopefully, at some point in a city near you. Bands like this are few & far between. Thanks, Santa Fe! Five-star record!

I've been a fan of these guys for over 10 years. I've seen them live in Vegas many times over and I am thrilled to get this new CD. I am on my third listen and I love it. The reviewer below compared them to Tower, and Earth, Wind & Fire and I agree. A well-versed musician friend of mine used this same description and added Steeley Dan. I agree with that as well. There are many musical influences here but the bottom line is, these guys have their own sound, their own thing and they just plain deliver. The horns are tight, tight, tight, the vocals R&B sounding and all sorts of other flavors are to be found. Well worth buying.

This is one of the best bands I've ever seen and heard. If you like funky bands like Earth, Wind & Fire or Tower of Power, you'll love these guys. This is a 15-piece band with six horns and as many great singers. Check out all their CD's or check them out "Live" at the Palms Casino in Vegas. You won't be disappointed.
