Reviews

  • One of my favorite albums period

Seriously, this is one of my all time favorite albums and in my opinion it is by far PT's very best live album! The sound engineering is absolutely amazing...leaps and bounds better than their other live albums. But what really makes this pop is how PT can be so technically brilliant yet personal and intimate at the same time. Very few bands pull that off. The beginning of this is the entire album Fear Of A Black Planet, and honestly I prefer the live version of every one of those songs, especially My Ashes which is indescribably beautiful with the addition of touring guitarist John Wesley's voice. I completely disagree with iTune's review which says that Wesley has some "rough moments", on the contrary his voice does more than just "humanize" the band...it adds a whole new dimension to their sound.

This is one of the most perfectly mixed live version of an album I've ever heard. I have listened to this many maaany times over and while I do wish itunes would offer Anesthetize in its original studio version as well, its crazy to not listen to this version. The some of the music sounds better than its studio counterpart in some ways too. Plus, its always nice to have slightly different versions of a song to be able to appreciate its intricacies due to how the mix highlights certain parts more than another.
